Terms of Service
Last updated: February 1, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using TaxRedact's document redaction service ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
TaxRedact provides an AI-powered document redaction service that identifies and removes sensitive personal information from tax documents and other PDF files. The Service includes:
- Uploading PDF documents for analysis
- AI-powered detection of sensitive information (SSN, EIN, phone numbers, etc.)
- User review and selection of items to redact
- Generation of redacted PDF documents
- Email delivery of redacted documents
3. User Responsibilities
You agree that:
- You will only upload documents that you own or have authorization to modify
- You are responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy of detected sensitive information before redaction
- You will provide a valid email address for document delivery
- You will not use the Service for any illegal purpose
- You will not attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features of the Service
4. Accuracy and Limitations
No Guarantee of Complete Detection: While we strive for accuracy, our AI may not detect all instances of sensitive information, particularly in poor-quality scans or non-standard document formats. You are responsible for reviewing the results.
Document Compatibility: The Service works best with standard tax forms and clearly formatted PDF documents. Results may vary with handwritten documents, low-resolution scans, or documents with unusual layouts.
5. Payment and Refunds
Pricing: The current price for document redaction is $19.99 per document. Prices are subject to change with notice.
Refunds: If you are unsatisfied with the redaction results, please contact us within 7 days of purchase. Refunds are provided at our discretion for legitimate issues with the Service. We do not provide refunds for user error or failure to review results before confirmation.
6. Intellectual Property
You retain all ownership rights to your original documents. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, temporary license to process your documents solely for the purpose of providing the redaction service. This license terminates when your documents are deleted from our systems.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPLETELY SECURE.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TAXREDACT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TaxRedact and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated Terms on our website. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
